No. 5 Texas notches another blowout victory 90-50 over New Mexico State
AUSTIN (KXAN) — The No. 5 Texas women's basketball team posted another huge win Friday, hammering New Mexico State 90-50 at the Gulf Coast Showcase in Estero, Florida.
It's the second consecutive win by 40 points or more for the Longhorns. Texas beat Tarleton State 83-41 on Wednesday at Moody Center.
Madison Booker led the Longhorns with 21 points on 8 of 10 shooting, including a perfect 3-for-3 from 3-point range, in 23 minutes. Taylor Jones finished with 20 points on 8 of 11 shooting with six rebounds and played just 16 minutes due to foul trouble. Rori Harmon had eight points and five assists.
Texas held New Mexico State to 39.5% from the field including 3 of 11 from 3-point range. The Longhorns outrebounded the Aggies 38-21 and they forced 25 turnovers to score 37 points. Texas held a 16-4 advantage on the offensive glass and scored 44 points in the paint to New Mexico State's 20.
Texas takes on Bulter in the tournament semifinals at 7:30 p.m. Saturday. The Bulldogs beat Santa Clara 79-50 to advance.
