Plumbers respond to NYCHA resident's call for help, restores holiday spirit
BROOKLYN, N.Y. (PIX11)—A leak started in her living room last week, and she was told she would have to wait for plumbers.
Before it ruined her holidays, she contacted PIX11 News for a fast fix.
Trish Guzman is a mother of four who loves decorating her home for the holidays. This year, she couldn’t find the exact spot where she put her Christmas tree, so she tagged us for help on TikTok.
Hours after PIX11’s story, crews came and fixed the leak. Guzman converted her hallway and living room into a winter wonderland.
A NYCHA spokesperson tells pix11 news, “NYCHA plumbers have been dispatched and are currently on-site, making the necessary repairs. Residents in need of assistance are encouraged to call the Customer Contact Center at 718-707-7771 or submit work tickets through the MyNYCHA application."
Also, Goya hosted a public food distribution for members of the Bronx community in need at the Nino de la Caridad Foundation in the Bronx.
With the support of community partners, including the Nino de la Caridad Foundation, food banks, shelters, churches, law enforcement, and many others, Goya ensures that families, children, and students in need receive a variety of non-perishable Goya food items.
This holiday season, they donated more than 250,000 pounds of food to New York and New Jersey.
With many organizations experiencing increased demand for food due to inflation and high grocery costs, it is even more crucial to extend a helping hand to those facing challenging circumstances.
Through Goya Gives, Goya is always at the forefront of natural disasters and humanitarian relief efforts, donating millions of pounds of food each year in the United States and worldwide.
