Manhattan falls to Gardner Edgerton in 6A state championship

EMPORIA (KSNT) - Manhattan football came three points shy of its second 6A state title in three seasons.
Gardner Edgerton beat Manhattan 36-33 in the 6A state championship, ending the Indians' undefeated season en route to its second-straight state title. Friday's matchup in Welch Stadium in Emporia brought a back and forth contest, with the Trailblazers taking a 22-19 lead into halftime.
The Indians came out firing in the second, even taking the lead at one point, but it wasn't enough to outlast Gardner Edgerton. Both teams finish the season 12-1.
