Chad's decision to end defence agreement with France a 'surprise' and 'humiliation'
Chad's government on Thursday announced that it is ending a defence cooperation agreement with France, its former colonial ruler, to redefine the nation's sovereignty. As one of the last countries in the region in which France maintained a large military presence, Chad's decision came as a "surprise" and a "humiliation", FRANCE 24's Marc Perelman said, adding that the French foreign minister was recently in the country.
