Beachfront European campsite reveals huge £21million revamp in time for summer
A HUGE island campsite in Europe has revealed its multi-million revamp – which will open in time for the summer holidays.
The Aminess Atea Resort in Croatia is on the island of Krk, surrounded by the sea in the fishing village of Njivice

Many of the upgraded caravan pitches will have their own private swimming pools with sea views.
The campsite said they were “reducing the resort’s capacity” to add more green space and areas.
There will also be a communal pool complex with sunloungers and umbrellas.
Krk Island is known for its sports and activities too, with the campsite revealing new images of sports grounds and tennis courts.
Outside the resort are also cycling and hiking trails that guests can access as well.
A new entertainment centre for young guests will be onsite with the Mirami mini club – hosting discos, bubble parties and cinema screenings.
There will even be an inflatable water park in the sea, as well as a kids pool with slides.
Adults can head to the wellness centre with a bio sauna, Finnish sauna and hyromassage pool.
Massages, facials, pedicures and manicures will all be on offer there.
Restaurants, bars, a bakery and market as well as direct access to the pebble beach will be part of the Aminess complex.
The upgraded resort hopes to reopen by spring, with discounts on offer for anyone booking ahead.
Guests can get between 10 and 15 per cent off when opting for a summer 2025 holiday.
The campsite is open from March to November, with prices from €45 (£37) a night.
Previous guests have raved about the holiday park even before the revamp.
One person wrote: “We have booked for the summer. It is our 3 years in a row.”
The best way to get to the island is to fly to Split – costing as little as £32 from the UK – followed by a one-hour flight from there.
Earlier this year, Aminess Avalona Camping Resort also reopened in Croatia after a €55million (£47million) renovation.
What is a camping holiday in Croatia like?
Travel writer Mary Novakovich recently tried it out for herself – here’s what she thought.
“Staying at Arena One 99 Glamping, the grown-up, stress-free camping was on a more intimate scale.
“By this I mean luxury safari tents equipped with en-suite bathrooms, with their own kitchens, air conditioning and wooden decking overlooking the Adriatic Sea.
“You’ll be immersed in pine trees at the glampsite with the soothing fragrance of rosemary and lavender filling the air.
“Make sure to visit the welless area and its five outdoor hot tubs, with treatment rooms in tepee tents, yoga platform and woodland sauna.”
On the island of Pag in Croatia, there are 180 pitches with swimming pools – and some of the pitches start from £18 each.
Or head to the island of Lopud in Croatia – which is home to just 200 locals, but is loved by celebs.
