I’m a dermatologist – an £8 Amazon buy can help smooth your under eyes, it’s gentle on your skin
A BUDGET-FRIENDLY beauty buy can help smooth the wrinkles under your eyes.
According to a dermatologist, the simple step can help to regenerate your skin.
A dermatologist revealed the skincare ingredient that helps to smooth your under eyes[/caption]In her viral video, TikTok user and board certified-dermatologist Shereen Idriss (@shereeneidriss) explained how the anti-ageing product works.
She revealed that Retinol eye cream is one of the top ways to smooth your under eyes.
According to the expert, the Retinol in the product has been “formulated” to a “gentler level” for use around your eyes.
She recommended against using other Retinol products near your eyes.
Dr. Idriss showed her audience The Inkey List’s Retinol Eye Cream, which is currently available for just £8.50 from Amazon.
She explained the science behind the skincare ingredient to her followers.
“Retinol helps your skin to really regenerate itself more efficiently so it’s going to build up and become stronger over time,” the dermatologist said.
“It does promote collagen production but not everyone can tolerate it.”
For those who are overly sensitive to the ingredient, she recommended substituting it with a peptide cream.
She revealed that peptides can also help trick your body into promoting collagen.
According to the pro, peptides are a “good alternative if you can’t tolerate retinol around your eyes.”
However, she revealed the best product to avoid eye wrinkles in the first place.
The TikToker advised her audience to apply sunscreen to their faces every day, regardless of the weather.
She explained that sunscreen can help “to minimise any potential wrinkling.”
And for an additional tip, she recommended applying a “thicker moisturiser” before using Retinol.
The importance of sun cream in your skincare routine
Dermatologist and skincare enthusiast Andrea Suarez - known as Dr Dray - revealed why you should wear suncream.
The one thing you can do that will make the biggest difference – and this matters for all ages – is protecting your skin from the sun, Andrea stressed.
“The vast majority of external aging is due to exposure to ultraviolet radiation,” she continued, not because you’re “not using some jazzy serum or layering 90 different things on your face everyday”.
“If you’re not doing in your 20s, get on that now.”
But she said the use of sun cream alone doesn’t go far enough. Andrea urged that you also wear sun-protective clothing like broad-brimmed hats and long sleeves, on top of not staying out too long in the sun.
Doing this over your lifetime – and all year, not just during the summer or on sunny days – “will reduce the visible signs of photoageing”, Andrea said.
Those are wrinkles, muddled pigmentation and sagging skin.
Another hack, putting a thicker moisturizer first before you use the Retinol.
TikTok users shared their thoughts on the advice in the comments section.
“Oh awesome. I just got that Retinol eye cream brand for my whole face,” wrote one viewer.
“This has been so useful. You have no idea. My eyes cannot tolerate Retinol!!!!” said another follower.
“Love watching these videos, I have noticed my face starting to change since I have been in my 30s. So very helpful!” commented a third person.
