The £1.79 Temu buy that stopped draughts coming through my front door – I even needed to turn down the heating

NOW that the weather is getting colder, if you’re looking for a quick and easy way to battle the chill, don’t worry, you’ve come to the right place.

With energy costs continuing to rise, many of us are reluctant to turn on our central heating.

Shoppers are raving about a cheap buy from Temu that stops draughts coming into your home

One shopper claimed that thanks to this product, they were so warm, they even needed to turn down their heating[/caption]

But fear not, we’ve found a super simple hack that is sure to keep you feeling cosy this winter.

So if you’ve tried a hot water bottle, foot warmer, or cosy jumper and nothing is working, this might just be the thing for you.

For just £1.79, Temu claims to have the answer to battling nasty draughts.

Thanks to the cheap Door Draught Stopper, which you can order online for less than £2, you’ll be able to keep your home warm with barely any faff involved.

According to the retailer, this affordable buy, which is made from high quality foam, acts as an under door draught blocker, helping to keep the cold out and the warm in.

It is made with a strong, wear resistant material and also blocks noise too.

If that wasn’t enough, it’s also incredibly straightforward to install – all you’ll need to do is simply clean your door, measure the length of the door and cut out the corresponding dimensions.

You then attach the draught stopper to the door and can use a hair dryer to preheat the glue to make it firmer.

It can be applied in a matter of seconds, making it the perfect pick this winter.

The flexible door stopper allows doors to open and close and then snap back, creating an instant seal.

As a result, you won’t need to constantly boost your heating, which will save you cash on your energy bills this season.

So if you want to save energy and pocket pounds this season, this is just the gadget for you.

Cheap gadgets to help you stay warm

MARTIN Lewis' MoneySavingExpert shared six gadgets that can help you keep the heating off but stay warm.

Heating “the human not the home” means you warm yourself instead of turning on the heating and heating the whole house.

This can save money on your heating bill and means you don’t have to sit in the cold.

  • USB gloves – initial cost £10, cost to run less than 1p an hour
  • Heated insoles – initial cost £10, cost to run less than 1p an hour
  • USB hand warmers – initial cost £15, cost to run less than 1p an hour
  • Electric gilet – initial cost £50 (including battery pack), cost to run less than 1p an hour
  • Microwaveable wheat bag – initial cost £4, cost to run less than 1p per hours
  • Reusable hand warmers – initial cost £5 for a pair, cost to run less than 1p per hour

The draught excluder is available in four different colours to suit your home decor – black, grey, coffee and white.

And for far less than the price of a Starbucks coffee, we think it’s a real steal.

5 Money-saving tips for autumn/winter

1. Draught-proof your home

It takes time and money to heat up your home, so it’s important that you do as much as you can to keep in the warmth. Close your doors and windows, and fill any gaps with a draught excluder.

2. Dial down your thermostat

According to Energy UK, turning down your thermostat by just one degree Celsius could cut your heating bill by up to 10%, and save you around £85 per year. Plus, if you don’t have a thermostat, installing one could save up to £70 per year!

3. Move furniture around

Make sure not big, bulky furniture like sofas are blocking radiators.

4. Wash clothes on a lower temp and add an extra spin

Unless it’s bedding, towels or really dirty items, dial down the temperature to 20 or 30 degrees, and do a double spin to remove excess water.

5. Heat the person not the home

There’s not point heating up a room that no one is sitting in, so be mindful about which radiators are on.

Temu shoppers rave

It’s clear that shoppers were impressed with the affordable product, as many flocked to the Temu website to share their rave reviews of the bargain buy.

The product has an average rating of 4.6 out of five, with almost 8,000 reviews in total.

As soon as I stuck it on the front door, I felt warm and needed to turn down the heating

Temu shopper

Shoppers claimed that thanks to the online buy, their homes were kept warm and as a result, some even turned down the heating.

One person said: “Such a simple idea, perfect for the job. I highly recommend this draught stopper. Keeps the heat in, it costs too much to waste.”

Why is Temu so cheap?

TEMU exploded onto the scene in late 2022, with people all over social media raving about the low prices.

The company is a Chinese-owned digital marketplace – essentially an online shopping app where people are connected to the retailer directly while the app takes care of the shipping element.

The frenzy over the app is not completely unfounded either as it offers a wide variety of products, including fashionmake-up, electronics and furniture.

According to a report from the US House Select Committee on the Chinese Communist Party, Temu takes advantage of a trade loophole that allows the company to ship duty-free goods directly to the US.

The loophole is called the de minimis exception and it means they can ship goods valued up to $800 (£643) to the US without it being inspected or taxed by US customs.

Temu connects customers directly to manufacturers and only manages how the items are sent to customers.

It means Chinese vendors can essentially sell their products directly to customers and ship it without building a network of warehouses across the globe.

By doing this, they cut down on huge costs and ensure the product itself isn’t marked up extra.

While many of the products seen on the Temu app are from brands with extensive, original collections, many more are dupes of designer brands

Another added: “Keeps the draught out nicely. Just cut it to size and you are good to go. Great value for money too.”

A third commented: “Brilliant – house is warmer, less bugs, Good draught stopper, does the job, like it. Happy with the product, fantastic, perfect.”

At the same time, someone else chimed in: “I love the door draft stopper. It’s cold here in the UK. As soon as I stuck it on the front door, I felt warm and needed to turn down the heating.”

Whilst another happy shopper beamed: “I’ve put my draft stoppers on both doors..they work brilliantly. Easy to cut to size and easy to put together and fix on the doors, no more drafts!! Very happy.”
