NLEX Road Warriors host 1st Coaches Camp in Bulacan
MANILA, Philippines – Past and present NLEX players lent their star power to the Road Warriors’ first-ever Coaches Camp last Saturday, November 23, in Bulacan.
Coaches Camp head Larry Fonacier together with Asi Taulava and Sean Anthony shared their expertise to over 35 barangay and school coaches.
“I am happy for the opportunity to contribute in any way to help aspiring coaches better understand the game and their players,” Fonacier, who ended his PBA career with NLEX in 2022.
“Basketball has always been a sport that has given us so much and NLEX is always eager to share its knowledge and resources with coaches, both on and off the court.”
Joining Fonacier were Taulava, whose last appearance with the Road Warriors last year allowed him to play for a record 24th PBA season, and Anthony, who is in his second year with NLEX.
According to NLEX vice president for communication and stakeholder management Donna Faylona-Marcelo, the Coaches Camp is one way for NLEX to “make a positive impact in the communities we serve.”
“We want to inspire participants to become great coaches and grow as better leaders. Coaching extends far beyond the court — it is about fostering discipline, teamwork, and perseverance,” said Faylona-Marcelo.
“Coaching is not just about basketball. The lessons learned here — whether about strategy or mentorship — can also be applied in their everyday life.”
The event is just the first of many editions as the Coaches Camp Caravan is set to roll on other provinces in the north. – Rappler.com
