NEW research has revealed the worst Christmas movies that people still love to watch – but has your guilty pleasure made the list?
As the nights get darker and colder there’s nothing better than cosying down with a hot drink to watch a festive film.
Lingerie and nightwear brand Pour Moi analysed Rotten Tomatoes scores, IMDb ratings, and global Google search data and uncovered which films with the poorest ratings were searched for most by fans.
Let’s start the Top Ten Countdown and see if your guilty pleasure makes the list.
Number Ten – Home Alone
Number 10 on the list is Home Alone[/caption]Home Alone is a 1990 comedy film starring Macaulay Culkin, Joe Pesci, Daniel Stern and Catherine O’Hara.
When bratty 8-year-old Kevin McCallister acts out the night before a family trip to Paris, his mother makes him sleep in the attic.
After the family mistakenly leave for the airport without him, he awakens to an empty house and assumes his Christmas wish to have no family has come true.
But his excitement dampens when he realizes that two con men plan to rob his house, and that he alone must protect the family home.
Number Nine – The Grinch
The famous Grinch who hates Christmas[/caption]The Grinch, also known as Dr. Seuss’ The Grinch, is a 2018 animated Christmas comedy film.
In the town of Whoville, the human like people called Whos are filled with excitement about celebrating Christmas.
However, the only one who is not thrilled is the grumpy, cantankerous and green-furred Grinch.
He will do anything to destroy Christmas.
Number Eight – Jingle All The Way
Jingle All the Way is a 1996 Christmas family comedy film starring Arnold Schwarzenegger.
The film is about two rival fathers living in Minneapolis who are on a last minute Christmas Eve shopping spree.
The two are desperately trying to purchase a sold out fictional Turbo-Man action figure for their respective sons.
The pair end up getting themselves into a slew of situations.
Number Seven – New Year’s Eve
Zac Efron and Michelle Pfeiffer are just two of the stars in the large cast of New Year’s Eve[/caption]New Year’s Eve is a 2011 romantic comedy film starring an ensemble cast including Halle Berry, Jessica Biel, Jon Bon Jovi, Robert De Niro, and Zac Efron,
It follows the lives of several couples and singles in New York as they intertwine over the course of one New Year’s Eve.
Look out for a series of bloopers and blunders that are shared with the audience as the credits roll.
Number Six – Surviving Christmas
A selfish executive pays a family to pretend to be his parents[/caption]Surviving Christmas is a 2004 romantic comedy film starring Ben Affleck, Christina Applegate, and Catherine O’Hara.
A wealthy executive has no close relationships and becomes nostalgic for his childhood home as Christmas approaches.
When he visits the house and finds another family living there, he offers the residents a large sum of money to pretend they are his parents.
Soon he tests the couple’s patience, and, when their daughter, Alicia, arrives, things get increasingly tense.
Number Five – Best Christmas Ever!
Best. Christmas. Ever! didn’t rate well with critics[/caption]Best Christmas. Ever! is a 2023 Christmas romantic comedy film starring Heather Graham, Brandy Norwood, Matt Cedeño, and Jason Biggs.
Every Christmas Jackie sends a boastful holiday newsletter that makes her old college friend Charlotte feel jealous and miserable.
When a twist of fate lands Charlotte and her family on Jackie’s snowy doorstep just days before Christmas, she seizes the opportunity to prove her old friend’s life can’t possibly be that perfect.
Number Four – Home Alone 3
An eight year old has to stay at home when he becomes unwell in Home Alone 3[/caption]Home Alone 3 is a family comedy film starring Alex D. Linz and Haviland Morris about an 8-year-old boy.
When he discovers that he has chicken pox and must stay home from school, he is delighted.
But then he learns he must defend his home from a dangerous band of international criminals working for a terrorist organization.
It is the third film in the Home Alone franchise.
Number Three – Christmas With The Kranks
Jamie Lee Curtis stars in Christmas With The Kranks[/caption]Christmas with the Kranks is a 2004 Christmas comedy film starring Tim Allen and Jamie Lee Curtis in the leading roles.
Finally alone for the holidays, Luther and Nora Krank plan to escape the Christmas traditions and take a cruise in the Caribbean instead.
This doesn’t sit well with their Christmas-obsessed neighbours who are determined to win the annual “best decorated street” competition.
The Kranks soon find themselves social outcasts because of their lack of Christmas spirit.
Number Two – Jack Frost
Father and son get a second chance in the film Jack Frost[/caption]Jack Frost is a 1998 dark fantasy drama starring Michael Keaton and Kelly Preston.
As a touring musician clinging to dreams of stardom, aging rocker Jack Frost never had much time for his wife and young son.
A year after Jack’s tragic death in a car accident on Christmas Day, his son plays a mournful tune on his father’s harmonica.
Much to his surprise, his father is magically brought to life as a snowman on the family lawn.
Given a second chance, father and son struggle to make up for lost time.
Number One – Deck The Halls
In the film Deck the Halls neighbours go to war over Christmas decorations[/caption]Steve suburban dad and Christmas enthusiast, finds a wrinkle in his well-ordered existence with the arrival of his new neighbour Danny.
Danny has big dreams and plans to illuminate his house with enough holiday lights to make it visible from space.
Not to be outdone, Steve declares a war of one-upmanship with Danny that threatens to drag the Christmas spirit through the slush.
