ITV is wrong to cancel Passenger – here’s why the drama must return for a second series
PASSENGER is one of ITV’s most gripping thrillers and it has been cancelled after only one series.
Fans have been gutted by the news and here’s why the drama must return for a second series.
ITV show Passenger is cancelled after only one season and leaves fans fuming[/caption] The cliffhanger season finale has left fans with so many unanswered questions[/caption] Wunmi Mosaku played DC Riya Ajunwa in the hit show.[/caption]The dark thriller Passenger made its debut this year and starred Wunmi Mosaku, David Threlfall, Rowan Robinson and Jack James Ryan.
Wunmi played Detective Riya Ajunwa who finds herself investigating a series of crazy and unexplained crimes in the fictional Northern town of Chadder Vale.
It quickly became a fan favourite with many comparing it to a brilliant mash up of Stranger Things meets Happy Valley meets True Detective Night Country.
Every episode was packed with humour and twists. Most you really couldn’t see coming because they were so cleverly plotted.
The storyline itself was fast paced and totally bewildering but that’s what made it such gripping TV.
Therefore the recent announcement that it wont be renewed for a second season left some fans baffled and gutted.
Not literally like someone on the show could be – but you get the gist!
A fan took to social media to display his annoyance and said: “This great show offered something different, has been axed, while Dean gets voted to do trial after trial after trial on #ImACeleb says everything you need to know.
Another said: “That’s a pity, I really enjoyed it”
A third declared: “FFS, I loved this show. It was something different”
While another agreed and said: “If it’s different it get cancelled.”
What does Season 2 need to answer?
Passenger only leaves you with more and more questions as you view each episode and the season finale was no different.
Can you imagine investing in a book then finding out the last few chapters have been torn out? And the writer explaining that not enough people had praised it so they didn’t bother finishing it.
There would be protests at local libraries and book shops from irate readers and this is no different.
Because ITV need to bring back Passenger to answer all our questions after promising so much.
Careful, there are spoilers ahead for the final episode of the first season.

Nish (Arian Nik) and Ali (Ella Bruccoleri) found the Pangaea game and were forced to play, so they grabbed some vicious weapons to help them in the first round.
Are we really never to find out what happened to them? If they died or survived? What the game made them do?
Detective Riya was transferred by her boss to Manchester and was on her way there, but after hearing her trainee Ali was in danger, would she have really gone?
Bread factory owner, Derek (Daniel Ryan) was last seen pouring petrol all over his bread factory and setting it on fire.
Will he make it out the factory alive and if so, what will his punishment be?
What is the terrifying creature?
Also, will the factory fire kill Nish and Ali or will the only sparks be the romantic kind – if they escape from the game?
We saw a brief look at the Pangaea boss, played by Nadia Albina in the finale. But what is her purpose?
And last but by no means least – what’s the terrifying creature that we have seen glimpses of throughout each episode?
Is it an alien or a flesh eating plant or a monster that’s escaped from the game? We need to know!
The only consolation is that other cancelled shows have returned to our screens at a later date.
So hopefully this will happen here too and we can all get closure from what’s been a great first season.
There are so many questions that still need answering[/caption]Passenger is available to stream on ITVX.
