Florida GOP House candidate: Tlaib, Omar 'might consider leaving before I get there'
House Republican candidate and Florida state Sen. Randy Fine (R) said on Tuesday that progressive Reps. Rashida Tlaib (D-Mich.) and Ilhan Omar (D-Minn.) should consider leaving Congress if he is elected.
“The Hebrew Hammer is coming,” Fine, who is Jewish, said in a post on X. “[Rashida Tlaib] and [Ilhan Omar] might consider leaving before I get there.”
Fine included the hashtag “bombs away.”
The firebrand candidate’s comments were made in a repost of the Republican Jewish Coalition’s endorsement of Fine for Florida’s 6th Congressional District.
Tlaib, who is the only Palestinian American member of Congress, and Omar have been vocally supportive of Palestinians throughout the Israel-Hamas war following the Hamas attacks on Israel on Oct. 7, 2023. Both lawmakers are Muslim.
Fine is known for his staunch pro-Israel views and has faced backlash for a series of inflammatory remarks regarding the war. When a Turkish-American activist was killed by Israeli forces in the West Bank earlier this year, Fine said in a post on X: “Throw rocks, get shot. One less Muslim terrorist. Fire Away.”
In 2019, Fine referred to a Jewish constituent, who defended a forum titled “Palestine/Israel, Opening the Dialogue,” as “Judenrat,” a term referring to Jews who collaborated with Nazis during the Holocaust. The comments were made on Facebook, according to the Jerusalem Post and the Orlando Sentinel.
Fine launched his bid for the state’s 6th district on Tuesday. The seat is currently held by Rep. Mike Waltz (R-Fla.), who will serve as President-elect Trump’s national security adviser.
Trump called on Fine to run for the seat on Monday.
