Man City outsiders for Premier League game for first time in SEVEN years as Liverpool trip looms
MANCHESTER CITY head into a Premier League game as the outsiders for the first time in SEVEN YEARS.
Pep Guardiola’s men’s horror run of results has forced the bookmakers to put them in the underdog position for this weekend’s trip to Liverpool.
Their winless run of five games did eventually come to an end in the Champions League last night.
But it brought about yet more questions than answers, becoming the first side in the competition’s history to hold a 3-0 lead on 75 minutes, only to end up drawing the game.
The markings on Guardiola’s face post-match told its own story.
Now, heading to Anfield for a crunch title clash, City are outsiders to win the game in 90 minutes.
And according to William Hill, they’re in this position for the first time in seven years with the bookmaker.
The last time Man City went into a Premier League game NOT as favourites was away to Chelsea in April 2017 – seven years and seven months ago!
The betting would likely have been relatively close regardless of the form of each side.
But Liverpool’s stunning start under Arne Slot coupled with the demise of the Cityzens has meant the hosts are warm favourites.
City haven’t won any of their last three trips to Liverpool, either.
The Reds are odds-on favourites to win the Premier League title now and are just 11/10 to claim the three points on Sunday.

City are 9/4 to end their SIX-game winless run with victory at Anfield.
William Hill spokesperson, Lee Phelps said: “Manchester City are not favourites in their upcoming tie against Liverpool, and remarkably it’s the first time they have been outsiders in a Premier League fixture since the 2017 season.
“City’s recent run of form, which has seen their winless streak extend to six games, sees them only considered a 9/4 shot to get the better of Liverpool at Anfield with the home side the 11/10 favourites in the market.
“As a result of their four straight Premier League losses, City are now eight points behind league leaders Liverpool, and the Reds are 4/5 to win the title this season with City drifting to 7/2, also behind Arsenal in the market at 3/1.”
