Niagara County woman sentenced for kidnapping elderly man
BUFFALO, N.Y. (WIVB) -- A woman from the Town of Niagara was sentenced and a Niagara man pled guilty in connection with a kidnapping that occurred earlier this year, according to the Niagara County District Attorney's Office.
Officials said 36-year-old Ashley McMillen was sentenced to 10 years in prison and five years of post release supervision for her role.
According to Niagara County DA Brian Seaman, the pair's motive for kidnapping the 77-year-old man was to steal money to buy drugs.
"The defendants put this man through a horrifying ordeal," he said. "Police forced their way into the victim's home when they were alerted that he may be in need of help. They found him restrained, gagged and in need of medical assistance ... We don't know what would have happened if the police hadn't responded as they did."
32-year-old Gregory Perry pled guilty to second-degree kidnapping Tuesday morning in connection with the crime. He returns to court Jan. 21.
The judge has already agreed to sentence him to 15 years in prison before five years of post release supervision.
