Black Friday, Small Business Saturday events around the Capital Region
ALBANY, N.Y. (NEWS10)-- The two days after Thanksgiving are big days to start holiday shopping. Black Friday, Nov. 29, and Small Business Saturday, Nov. 30, encourage shopping at both large department stores and small local businesses.
Some municipalities have Black Friday deals and Small Business Saturday events while encouraging residents to shop at these businesses. Here’s where you can find holiday deals from some local businesses.
Albany
The Lark Street Business Improvement District (BID) encourages residents to support local businesses on Lark Street and downtown Albany on Black Friday and Small Business Saturday, with over 80 restaurants and shops to explore. On Saturday, Lark Street BID is also offering a nutcracker scavenger hunt on Saturday from noon to 4 p.m.

Ballston Spa
Ballston Spa’s charming boutiques, specialty shops, and eateries will be offering special deals and extended hours on Small Business Saturday.

Bennington, Vt.

Crossgates Mall
The center will open on Black Friday, Nov. 29 at 7 a.m. and will close at 9 p.m. Some stores, however, will open before 7 a.m. for early shopping.

- Best Buy: Opens at 6:00 a.m. on Black Friday and remains open until 10:00 p.m.
- Dick’s Sporting Goods: Opens at 6:00 a.m. on Black Friday and remains open until 10:00 p.m.
- Carhartt: Opens at 6:00 a.m. on Black Friday and remains open until 9:00 p.m.
- Macy’s: Opens at 6:00 a.m. on Black Friday and remains open until 11:00 p.m.
- Bath & Body Works: Opens at 6:00 a.m. on Black Friday and remains open until 9:00 p.m.

The Downtown Gloversville community is ready for holiday shoppers, with daily deals and events. In addition to shopping, restaurants, performance, exhibit venues are hosting events. Santa will also be making an appearance at the Mohawk Harvest Cooperative Market on Saturday.

The Lake George Regional Chamber of Commerce is encouraging residents to shop small and shop local on Small Business Saturday. On Black Friday, Nov. 29, about 20 stores in downtown Saratoga Springs and the surrounding area will be participating in a group sale promotion, offering an array of discounts, with most being spread out all day. "Black Friday Saratoga Participant" window signs will be placed on each storefront for those participating. Each business offers deals and discounts on Small Business Saturday, with some offering deals on Sunday too.
