Albany woman pleads not guilty to vehicular homicide
ALBANY, N.Y. (NEWS10) -- An Albany woman was arraigned on Monday in a vehicular homicide case, the Albany County District Attorney's Office reported. Brittany Hawkins, 34, pleaded not guilty to second-degree murder.
The indictment against Hawkins alleges that she caused the death of Daquan Phillips on October 31 by intentionally hitting him with her car near Manning Boulevard and Lark Drive in Albany. The investigation by Albany Police determined that Hawkins and Phillips were neighbors and were reportedly arguing with each other leading up to the incident.
Following Monday's arraignment, Hawkins was remanded to the Albany County Jail without bail. She is scheduled to return to court on December 20.
