I get paid to be a bridesmaid – guests are told I’m a long-lost friend, but the truth is I don’t know the bride at all
A WOMAN has revealed that she gets paid to come to weddings, and pretend to be a long lost friend to the bride.
Tiffany Wright is an “undercover bridesmaid” and is hired by brides to replace bridesmaids who have had to drop out last minute and to make sure that everything goes smoothly on the big day.

Tiffany’s previous job was as a marriage proposal planner, but after seeing how stressed brides often became at weddings she attended, she had a brainwave and decided to become a professional bridesmaid.
Tiffany offers three different bridesmaid packages: For £250, she offers a ‘Online Bridesmaid’ service, which includes 1:1 sessions where she advises on wedding planning choices, such as seating plans and colour themes.
She also offers a ‘Ultimate Professional Bridesmaid’ package, which includes wedding and bridesmaid dress shopping, running errands, and attending the wedding ceremony.
One bride-to-be Kirsten, hired Tiffany to be her bridesmaid as she was worried about her family members not getting on on the big day, and needed someone to keep the peace.
“I don’t feel comfortable asking my friends to make sure Uncle Tom isn’t talking to X”, she told OMG Weddings.
“I just want everyone to have a good time.”
Mum-of-two Kirsten said that she would feel so much more relaxed on her special day if she could trust Tiffany to make sure that everything is in order.
Tiffany has worked with hundreds of brides and said that she has come across every single scenario imaginable.
“I’m an expert at weddings I’ve come across every situation that could go wrong, so I know how to deal with it,” she said.
However, she revealed that her job can be extremely stressful, as she is responsible for whether the day goes well or not.
“It could ruin a brides day if I don’t step up”, she said.
One of the problems she often encounters is drama between the other bridesmaids.
Controlling the other bridesmaids can be a drama in itself,” she told Harper’s Bazaar.

This trend is for the bride who dares to be different, breaking away from tradition and embracing a vibrant, contemporary aesthetic on the most important day of her life.
“There’s often one alpha bridesmaid who is suspicious of me and trying to negotiate that and make sure everyone is happy can be difficult.”
She added that some of the brides she works for are “bridezillas” who have called her at midnight and have demanded she dye her hair to fit in with the wedding aesthetic.
However, despite the struggles, Tiffany said that her unique job is very rewarding.
She said: “The last wedding I went to, the father of the bride knew that I’d been hired and he was so nervous about doing his speech,” she said.
“About five minutes before he was due to speak, he asked me to read a beautiful poem he had written about his daughter because he was too emotional.
“My job might be unique, but it’s experiences like these that make it so rewarding.”
