Vernon, BC: The Vernon Vipers bounced back in style Sunday afternoon, thrilling a season-high crowd of 2,620 fans with a dramatic 3-2 overtime victory over their rival, the Salmon Arm Silverbacks.
Shea Busch was the hero of the night, scoring twice to bookend the game. He opened with a dazzling shorthanded goal and sealed the deal just 28 seconds into overtime, securing the Vipers’ first extra-time win of the season in their fifth attempt.
The game saw its fair share of drama, especially in the third period. Salmon Arm’s Cole Cooksey, who earned second-star honors, put the Silverbacks ahead with a power-play tally. However, Vernon’s Corban Almen responded minutes later to tie the game, setting the stage for Busch’s overtime heroics.
