Mott reflects on K-State career, first-career interception, Coach Klieman on K-Nation
MANHATTAN (KSNT) - K-State senior Brendan Mott capped his final game at Bill Snyder Family Stadium with a win on Saturday.
A win, and his first-career interception on senior night. The senior defensive end snatched a ball out of the air against Cincinnati and returned it 16 yards to the Bearcat 6 yard line, setting up an eventual Wildcat touchdown. Mott joined K-Nation's Caroline Soro for a one-on-one interview postgame.
"I ran 16 yards I think it was and I was tired after that," Mott said laughing. "Coming to the sideline I don't know if I got more congratulations or 'Man you should've cashed in and scored that.' It was awesome, it was an awesome experience to share with the coaches and my teammates."
Mott came into K-State with head coach Chris Klieman in 2019. He redshirted as a freshman that year, but worked his way up the ranks to a starting role following a breakout season in 2022, and has cemented himself as cornerstone for K-State's defense.
The Iowa native says he wasn't highly recruited coming out of high school, and is ever grateful to Chris Klieman for giving him a shot.
"He took a chance on a skinny Iowa boy right out of Iowa City and gave me the opportunity and chance to walk on here," Mott said of Klieman. "... To give him one last hug coming out of that tunnel and to exchange words it was super special. He's such a special man and a special leader and our whole teams loves him and plays for him."
Mott and the Wildcats have one final game of the regular season on the road at Iowa State on Nov. 30. The full interview with Mott aired in Sunday's episode of K-Nation and can be watched above.
