Hezbollah fires 250 rockets at Israel in major attack
Hezbollah fired around 250 rockets at Israel on Sunday, amid ongoing ceasefire efforts. This was one of the group’s heaviest attacks in recent months, leaving seven people injured.
Some of the rockets struck areas near Tel Aviv, including Haifa and Petah Tikva, injuring at least seven individuals.
The Israeli military reported that approximately 250 projectiles were fired at the country, with some intercepted by the defense system.
Israel’s emergency services treated seven individuals, including a 60-year-old man in critical condition, a 23-year-old man, and a 70-year-old woman suffering from smoke inhalation due to fires caused by the attacks.
In Haifa, a rocket struck a residential building, leaving it at risk of collapse. Meanwhile, the Palestinian Red Crescent reported that 13 people were injured in the West Bank’s Tulkarm when a defense interceptor struck residential homes.
On Saturday, Israel conducted an airstrike on central Beirut without warning. According to Lebanon’s Ministry of Health, this attack killed at least 29 people and injured 67 others. On Sunday, additional airstrikes targeted southern Beirut, focusing on Hezbollah command centers, according to the Israeli military.
The Lebanese Ministry of Health reported that Israeli attacks have killed over 3,700 people and displaced approximately 1.2 million, equivalent to a quarter of Lebanon’s population.
In Israel, approximately 90 soldiers and 50 civilians have been killed since the war began. Additionally, around 60,000 Israelis have been evacuated from the country’s northern regions.
The escalating conflict between Israel and Hezbollah has drawn international concern, particularly over the rising civilian toll and displacement. Lebanon’s interim Prime Minister, Najib Mikati, condemned Israel’s recent attacks, calling them a “direct and bloody message” against U.S.-led ceasefire efforts.
The sustained violence poses significant risks to regional stability, with fears of the conflict spreading further. International mediation remains critical to de-escalate tensions and address the mounting humanitarian crisis affecting both nations.
