Young couple shot, husband fatally in drive-by shooting on I-95: NYPD
THE BRONX (PIX11) -- A husband and wife were shot in a car on Interstate 95 early Sunday morning, according to the NYPD.
The incident happened around 5:49 a.m.
Police say the couple were in a vehicle traveling west on I-95 when an unknown individual in another vehicle opened fire. The husband was shot in the head and the wife was hit in the shoulder. The shooter fled the scene.
NYPD officers responded to Washington Heights around 6:04 a.m. and located the couple. They were taken to the hospital by private means. The wife was in stable condition, police say.
Investigations are ongoing. The 27-year-old driving the couple was taken into custody for a DWI, police say.
