Share your photos: Ohio State fans cross out M's ahead of Michigan game
COLUMBUS, Ohio (WCMH) — As Rivalry Week begins, Ohio State fans are continuing the tradition of crossing out every M in sight ahead of Saturday’s game with Michigan, and NBC4 is asking Buckeyes fans to share pictures of their handiwork using the form at the bottom of this article.
The game against the Wolverines will kick off at noon at Ohio Stadium, with bragging rights on the line and, for the Buckeyes, postseason hopes.
Crossing out the M's has become a ritual. Even John Glenn International Airport has participated, welcoming visitors with the obliterated letters.
On campus, students begin early, ensuring no M remains unmarked. Billboards, street signs, and campus plaques are all altered with red tape. And online, social media posts from Buckeyes fans replace the letter in their posts and bios with an “X.”
The act is a reminder of the intensity of the rivalry between Ohio State and Michigan, one of the most storied in college football. For Buckeye Nation, it is about more than fun — it is a rallying cry of solidarity leading up to the biggest game of the season.
As the tradition of crossing out M's continues, all eyes turn to Saturday, when the Buckeyes will look to break Michigan’s three-game winning streak in the series. Until then, every crossed-out M serves as a message: Ohio State is ready.
