Suspect barricaded in vehicle leads to SWAT callout, home evacuations in east Austin

AUSTIN (KXAN) — A family disturbance call led to an ongoing SWAT callout in east Austin early Sunday morning, according to the Austin Police Department.
Police received a gun hotshot call around 5:38 a.m. for a family disturbance on Garden Street where one person may have a firearm.
Police responded and found a male with a possible firearm. The suspect then barricaded himself in a vehicle.
Police said the SWAT team was called to help due to the serious nature of the call.
Multiple homes around the barricaded suspect were evacuated, police said. People are advised to stay away.
