Newell On Unacceptable Defeat in Dundee
Hibernian Captain Joe Newell spoke to Hibs TV following our defeat to Dundee on Saturday evening.
After taking an early lead, we were reduced to 10-men moments later when Jordan Obita was dismissed. The hosts took full advantage of the extra man scoring four times without reply as we fell to defeat at Dens Park.
Speaking to Hibs TV after the match, the Captain gave an honest assessment of the 90 minutes.
“It’s very raw at the minute, but it is Groundhog Day again for us. It’s totally unacceptable that we find ourselves in this position again.
“We’ve worked so hard in the international break, we worked on a lot of good things and came into today full of confidence. We had a real good feeling coming into the game, you saw that straight away with the way we started the game.
“We played with tempo, created numerous chances in the first 10 minutes and got the goal, but the same thing happens and we find ourselves here again.
“The good thing is that we have a game in three days, there is no time in this sport, at this Club to feel sorry for yourself. We’ve got to come in on Sunday with a fresh mindset and get ready to go again.
“We can’t mull over it too long, it is a huge kick in the teeth for us - but we’ve got a huge week coming up and we have to pick ourselves up and go again, it’s as simple as that.”
