Ruben Selles ‘Very Proud’ Of Reading’s Effort In Peterborough United Win
The Royals picked up their second away win of the season, running out 2-1 victors at London Road.
The Royals picked up a brilliant 2-1 victory against Peterborough United away from home on Saturday.
Harvey Knibbs scored two first-half goals to secure the points, but Peterborough did make it a nervy last few minutes when Emmanuel Fernandez scored a very late consolation. The win moves us level on points with sixth-placed Barnsley, only missing out on the play-offs on goal difference.
Manager Ruben Selles was very happy with his side’s performance. He spoke to the Reading Chronicle.
Selles on the performance
“We knew that the opponents were really good and changed the dynamic, but we knew that we would have our chances because of the way they attack, with lots of players.
“We went with a gameplan, and the boys did an amazing job in the first half. In the second half we thought we were going to score on a couple of occasions to close the game but at the end we conceded an amazing goal.
“It was a good game of football and I’m very proud of the effort. It’s always difficult to come here.”
Selles on being out of the play offs on goal difference
“It is really good, the happiness of winning a football match in the scenario here and the way that we did it, being the team we want to be. The dressing room is very happy so now we need to make a decision in our performance - if we want to go up and keep ourselves in the front part of the table or if we don’t.
“This isn’t a decision where you say if you’re in or out; you have to show it in every action on the pitch, in training and in preparation. That is the challenge for us right now.”
