Poole Town 1-2 Hanwell Town – Match Report
Poole Town fell to a 2-1 home defeat at the hands of Hanwell Town.
Manager Steve Tully made two changes to his starting lineup with Dario De Luca replacing the injured Antonio Diaz and Harry Thomas coming in for Jamie Whisken.
The match got underway at The BlackGold Stadium with the visitors edging it slightly in the early stages.
The first big chance of the game arrived in the 15th minute when Elliot Benyon was denied due to great defending from Josh Staunton.
Hanwell opened the scoring on the 24th minute after a fantastic ball in from Mat Mackenzie wasn’t dealt with and Dan Carr fired home at the back post.
After the visitors took the lead, Poole grew into the game and were on top for large spells.
Poole thought they had equalised moments before half time as Ezio Touray’s effort crashed off the bar and fell to the feet of Harvey Slade who was unable to convert from close range.
The referee’s whistle brought the half to a close with the away side in the lead.
The Dolphins started the second half brightly as they pushed on in search of an equaliser.
Poole finally found the equaliser after fantastic work from De Luca down the left-hand side to find Touray free in the area and he slotted it past the keeper to make the scores level.
Shortly after, against the run of play Hanwell retook the lead as Carr’s fantastic bicycle kick found it’s way into the top corner on the 63rd minute.
As the game edged nearer to that full time whistle, things went from bad to worse for Poole as Oakley Hanger was shown a straight red card.
The referee brought an end to proceedings with Hanwell taking all three points.
A disappointing performance from Steve Tully’s side leaving the Dolphins in 10th place.
