BUFFALO, N.Y. (WIVB) — Section VI football teams won three of five Far West Regional playoff games to advance to the NYSPHSAA semifinals.
Health Sciences in Class B, Salamanca in Class C, and Clymer/Sherman/Panama in Class D will continue their seasons next week in Vestal, New York, while Lancaster in Class AA and Sweet Home in Class A lost in the regional round against Section V opponents.
Salamanca and CSP, both ranked No. 1 in the state, were state semifinalists last year. Salamanca (12-0) continued its undefeated season with a 42-20 win against East Rochester-Gananda on Saturday at Pittsford-Sutherland, while CSP beat state No. 2 Avon 48-14 on Friday night at SUNY Brockport.
Health Sciences won its third regional championship since 2018 with a 32-0 victory over Eastridge on Saturday at Brockport.
Lancaster lost 21-19 against Aquinas on Friday night, and Sweet Home lost 48-14 to Brighton on Saturday.
