Major motorway used by thousands of drivers a day to CLOSE for three days next week – plan your journey
THOUSANDS of drivers are facing route diversions next week as a major motorway will be closed for three days.
Motorists set to travel early in the morning are warned that their journey might be impacted by closures starting the night before.

Roadwork maintenance plans will affect the M42 motorway which means many drivers will have to rethink their routes.
On Monday, November 25 the link from junction 8 southbound on the M42 to junction 4a on the M6 will be closed.
These closures will take place from 9pm until 5am the next morning and will also come with narrow lanes and speed restrictions because of HS2 viaduct works.
The high-speed railway team has released a time-lapse of their installations which have been taking place this year.
Despite the controversial inter-city train track starting in 2017, it’s still years away from being complete.
Roadworks will impact the carriageway, hard shoulder, entry and exit slip roads, and link road.
Closures on M42-Southbound will take place on Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday of the coming week – all at taking place at the same time each day.
Drivers should expect to see a clearly signed diversion route.
From 9pm until 6am on Monday the M42 southbound link to the M5 northbound at junction 4a will also be affected.
Congestion website trafficdelays.co.uk has stated this is due to horticultural works being planned in the Worcester area.
The carriageway will be closed for maintenance work and with motorists forced to find diversions via National Highways and local authority networks.
These roadworks will take place at the time on Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday, November 27.
Also on Monday, the M42 northbound junction 5 entry slip road will be closed.
In both directions of junction 5 to junction 6, the entry slip road will be shut off for maintenance works due to a roadwork scheme.
This is set to happen at 9pm until 5am for three days from November 25 to the 27.
There are three closures planned on the M42 for Monday – but on the next day there is another warning in place.
Both Tuesday 26 and Wednesday 27 November face further closures with junction 9 on the M42 northbound shutting from 9pm to 6am.

- M42 northbound junction 5 entry slip road closure (9am to 5am)
It’ll be closed for maintenance work including horticultural works leading to lane closures.
These three day will cause serious disruption to drivers and National Highways urges motorists to take care when planning their routes.
For those getting home late or if you have an early commute, make sure to check which diversions are available.
All road closure reports will be updated twice daily Monday to Friday except for bank holidays and weekends according to National Highways.
