Gueydan man arrested after allegedly trying to hit a family with his truck in Crowley
CROWLEY, La. (KLFY) -- A Gueydan man was arrested after allegedly attempting to hit an off-duty Crowley Police officer and his family with his truck, authorities said.
Tyler Guidry, 32, of Gueydan, is charged with three counts of attempted first degree murder and one count of felony hate crimes.
Officials said the officer had responded the previous day, while on duty, to a call involving Guidry wanting to commit suicide. He was hospitalized that day.
Just after 3:30 p.m. Thursday, police received a report of a disturbance at the corner of South Avenue G and East Pine Street, in which Guidry allegedly swerved his vehicle in an attempt to hit the officer and his family, who were walking in the vicinity. Authorities said Guidry then turned back around, aiming for them again.
Guidry stopped and exited the truck after the off-duty officer drew his weapon, authorities said.
Bond details were not released.
