Blackbirds Tavern in Voorheesville opens for business
Blackbirds Tavern, managed by Druthers Brewing Company, is officially open in Voorheesville at 42 South Main Street. The tavern is open Monday through Thursday from 3 to 9 p.m., Friday and Saturday from noon to 10 p.m., and Sunday from noon to 9 p.m.
Capital Region restaurant inspections: November 4-8

Lake Placid restaurant and brewing company closes after 35 years
Great Adirondack Brewing Company, 2442 Main Street, has closed its doors. The Kane family, owners of the business, made the closure announcement on the restaurant’s Facebook page on Nov. 8.
Slingerlands’ Two Little Dumplings plans to open storefront
Two Little Dumplings, a family-owned business in Slingerlands, is raising money to help make the move from an at-home and pop-up venture to having a dedicated storefront. The dumpling shop is planning to open in the currently unfinished space at The Grove at 400 Maple Road in New Scotland.
New sushi restaurant opens in Saratoga Springs
Omakase Sushi and Grill had its soft opening in Saratoga Springs on Wednesday. It starts at 3 p.m.
Pad Thai Noodle in Colonie rebuilding after explosion
Pad Thai Noodle has begun rebuilding their business after an explosion destroyed the Everett Road building in April. The restaurant shared the announcement on the restaurant’s Facebook page on Nov. 8.
Mexican restaurant opens in former Denny’s location in Latham
A Mexican restaurant has opened its doors at 697 Troy-Schenectady Road. Don Juan’s Mexican Grill and Cantina opened in the former Denny’s building after weeks of renovations.
New Mexican restaurant opens in downtown Troy
A new Mexican restaurant has opened in downtown Troy. Jesus’s Mexican Grill opened at the end of October at 186 River Street.
New hotel, restaurant sets opening at ex-Longfellows site
Brookmere Saratoga is now in the final stages of construction at the former Longfellows Hotel & Restaurant site in Saratoga Springs. The hotel, Regent Restaurant & Bar, and Arbor Spa are expected to open in mid-December.
New Mexican eatery opens on Wolf Road in Colonie
Don Tequila Mexican Cantina has opened in the former Warehouse Grill & BBQ space in Colonie. The eatery officially opened on November 5.

Slingerlands bistro closing, opening as Mint in 2025
Garden Bistro 24 is set to permanently close on November 30. However, the space will be opening as Mint Restaurant in 2025. A post on Garden Bistro 24’s website said the closure is bittersweet but they are excited about the upcoming transformation of the space.
Grand opening date set for new Mediterranean restaurant in Guilderland
The grand opening date for Simone’s Kitchen, a Mediterranean-style restaurant, is set for Saturday, November 23 in Stuyvesant Plaza. There will be a ribbon cutting from 10:30 a.m. to 11 a.m. with doors opening to the public at 11 a.m.
Ballston Spa’s Route 50 Diner back open
After initial reports that the Route 50 Diner, located at 2002 Doubleday Avenue in Ballston Spa, had permanently closed, the diner is back open. The diner closed for business on Monday, November 18, and reopened on Friday, November 22.
Dual café and bookstore in Schenectady closing down
Novel BIBLIO•BREW, a coffee bar, eatery, and small bookstore in Schenectady, is closing down by the end of the year. The owners announced the closure on Wednesday.
New eatery opening on West Ave in Saratoga Springs
Matt Richardson has worked as a chef in the restaurant industry for about 20 years. He’s now opening up his own restaurant in Saratoga Springs.
