Chris Sutton predicts score for Man City vs Tottenham – ‘There will be goals’
Chris Sutton has predicted the result for Man City vs Tottenham this weekend as the Lilywhites head to the Etihad without Cristian Romero or Micky Van de Ven.
Man City vs Tottenham: Two sides in need of a win
As the Premier League returns, both Manchester City and Tottenham face each other during a period of questionable form.
Manchester City have lost four consecutive games in all competitions for the first time under Pep Guardiola. Tottenham lost their last two fixtures, but their overall form in results has been far more inconsistent, currently sitting 10th in the Premier League table.
A win in a fixture that has a history of going both ways, would do wonders for both sides. Tottenham have a challenging run of fixtures from now through December, and getting any points from possibly the hardest game would be invaluable.

Sutton believes that Guardiola’s newly agreed contract may be the psychological boost that hands City the win, and thinks criticism of both teams is excessive.
Speaking to BBCSport, Sutton said: “It’s safe to say Pep Guardiola has severely irritated the rest of the footballing public by agreeing his contract extension with Manchester City. You can just imagine the groans from Liverpool, north London and the red half of Manchester, because they know how dominant City have been under him.
“City are not playing well at the moment, which is why they are on this run of four straight defeats in all competitions. People have been looking at them as if the wheels are coming off, but they are still second and only five points off the top. I do think Pep’s new deal will give them a boost, and I am expecting them to bounce back.
“Tottenham have also been described as a ‘crisis club’ this season but they are still only three points off third place. The table is so congested that anyone in mid-table who wins a couple of games in a row is going to be right up there, but I don’t see Spurs getting anything at the Etihad Stadium.
“There will be goals in this game because Tottenham manager Ange Postecoglou will not change his approach. He has already beaten City once this season, in the Carabao Cup, but I think Pep will come out on top this time.”
Prediction: City 3-1 Tottenham
Injuries feel significant, but Spurs have done it before
Going into the game, Tottenham are having something of an injury crisis, whereas City look to be coming out of one. Spurs may be heading to the Etihad without Micky van de Ven and Cristian Romero in addition to Richarlison, the suspended Rodrigo Bentancur and long-term injury, Wilson Odobert.
City look to have some of their key players returning, but Tottenham have been in this position before. The away match at City last year also featured a makeshift defence of Ben Davies and Emerson Royal, but they managed to leave with 1 point.
Radu Dragusin’s availability could prove to be vital in a match which should suit his skill set. Spurs fans will be hoping the team can draw on last season’s away draw and Tottenham’s recent win against City in the League Cup to find a way to get their season back on track.
