Protests erupt in Parachinar after attack kills 42 in Pakistan
Following the attack on a convoy of Shia pilgrims near Pakistan’s northwestern border, dozens of residents from the Parachinar district in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa protested against the deadly incident.
The angry demonstrators demanded improved security for the region and an investigation to identify the perpetrators of the attack.
The residents of Parachinar in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa took to the streets after the attack on the Shia pilgrims’ caravan, which left at least 42 people dead. They called on the government to ensure the safety of this tense area.
On the morning of Friday, November 22, businesses, educational institutions, transport systems, and other establishments in Parachinar were shut down as people protested on the streets against the killing of the passengers.
On Thursday evening, local officials in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa reported that the death toll from the deadly attack on the Shia pilgrims’ caravan in the Kurram district had risen to 42. Aftab Aslam, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa’s Minister of Law, condemned the attack as “terrorist” in nature and stated that no local group was behind it.
So far, no group has claimed responsibility for the attack on the Shia pilgrims in the remote border region of Pakistan.
This tragic incident has further heightened tensions in the already volatile region, raising concerns about the safety of minorities in Pakistan. Local residents and activists are calling for stronger government measures to prevent such attacks and ensure justice for the victims.
The protests reflect growing frustration among communities facing repeated incidents of violence.
