Full list of retailers NOT doing Black Friday revealed including Primark, M&S and Ikea
BLACK Friday has become one of the biggest days in the shopping calendar with huge crowds set to hit the high street in search of a bargain.
Retailers across the UK and US offer huge discounts as they look to attract shoppers ahead of Christmas.
And, in recent years the one-day sale has also expanded to the weeks before and after Black Friday itself, with huge deals offered both in-store and online.
But despite the success of Black Friday there are still some retailers who choose not to take part in the sale frenzy.
Those opting not to take part include budget retailers, who say they offer great deals through the year, as well as brands that don’t feel the event offers true value for money.
Some also prefer to launch their biggest sales at other times.
However, retailers can change their minds and this year B&M and TK Maxx are offering Black Friday month bargains for the entirety of November, despite having avoided the shopping event in previous years.
Here’s a list of all the retailers not taking part in Black Friday this year:
Primark
Clothing retailer Primark, which does not take part in Black Friday sales, said it offers “great value fashion all year round”.
While the retailer doesn’t take part in the event, its stores frequently sell end-of-season clothing at discounted prices from sale rails.
So, those scouring the high street for bargains could still nab a great deal in-store.
The retailer has almost 200 stores in the UK and also skips other major sales days including Boxing Day and Cyber Monday.
M&S
Marks & Spencer also sits out the Black Friday mayhem across its estate of around 1,000 UK stores.
However, that doesn’t mean that shoppers won’t be able to bag a bargain in the run up for Christmas.
A spokesperson said: “Although we don’t participate in Black Friday, we will have a selection of unmissable offers available in store and online in the lead up to Christmas.”
M&S customers can also use their Sparks cards to collect points on purchases.
Next
Major clothing retailer Next has not taken part in Black Friday sales since 2020, and its website suggests it will be skipping the shopping event again this year.
The Sun has contacted the retailer to confirm.
While the retailer doesn’t take part in the pre-Christmas event, its Boxing Day sales are famous and can last for a couple of weeks after the big day.
The retailer also regularly lists clearance items online across its clothing and homeware departments.
Home Bargains
Discount store Home Bargains offers cheaper prices through the year, so does not take part in sale events.
It has previously opted not to take part in Boxing Day, Black Friday and Cyber Monday sales.
But, the retailer continues to offer discounted products both in-store and online including Christmas clothing, decorations and presents.
A spokesperson said: “Home Bargains focuses on everyday affordability with our commitment to offering top brands at the lowest possible prices ensuring our customers enjoy great value every day.”
When shopping at Home Bargains it’s worth looking for Star Buys which are a bit like Aldi’s Specialbuys.
Ikea
Home furnishings store Ikea is once again avoiding mega Black Friday discounts in favour of a greener alternative.
The store instead offers a 25% bonus on its Buyback scheme, in what it has dubbed Green Friday.
Ikea is also offering an extra 20% off pre-loved Ikea furniture.
Both deals will run from November 21 to December 2.
While the store is not holding a specific sale day, it does frequently cut the price of items its looking to clear so it’s always worth checking out what’s on offer.
