CBA to begin state tournament journey against North Rockland
ALBANY, NY (NEWS10) -- The CBA football team finds itself back in familiar territory: the state tournament. After winning their fourth straight section title, the Brothers will play their fourth straight regional final against North Rockland on Saturday.
CBA is 2-1 in the first round of states in the last three years. The unbeaten Brothers believe their experience in this round and in the state tournament will pay dividends.
"My first year here, I tell my kids all the time, that group was so happy to win the sectional final that I don't think we were overly focused to play the following week," said CBA head coach Bob Burns. "Not that that Carmel team that we played wasn't an animal because they were and they went on to win the state championship. But I don't think we played our best in that game. The majority of these guys have been through it, so they know that, okay, this is the stepping stone. Now let's focus on Monday and have a good week of practice and get ready to go. Survive and advance, so to speak."
"It helps a lot because it keeps us in the game because we're just so used to it," said senior running back and defensive back Latrell Martin. "We've been there before. We know what it takes."
The Brothers will take on North Rockland Saturday at 1:00 PM at Lansingburgh High School.
