ALBANY, N.Y. (NEWS10) -- Happy Fri-yay! Meteorologist Matt Mackie says those in the Catskills have gotten nearly a foot of heavy, wet, and sticky snow but most of the NEWS10 viewing area will get rain with temperatures in the 40s.
The remains found at Burden Pond in Troy were identified as a Glenville woman who was reported missing over 10 years ago. Also, One person was injured after a shooting in Troy on Thursday afternoon. These stories, and more, are in your five things to know this Friday.
1. Troy remains identified as woman missing from Glenville
The human remains located at the Burden Pond Preserve in Troy on October 20 have been identified. The remains have been confirmed as being Amanda King, who was first reported missing from Glenville in November of 2013, Troy Police announced on Thursday.
2. One injured after 6th Avenue shooting in Troy
Officers responded to Sixth Avenue near 102nd Street in Troy on Thursday afternoon after a shooting in the vicinity. One man was tended to for a non-life-threatening injury, the Troy Police Department reported.
3. The Madison Theatre’s grand reopening
An Albany favorite that shuttered earlier this year is now getting a major upgrade. Thursday night Albany’s landmark Madison Theatre celebrated its rebirth with a grand reopening ceremony.
4. Turkeys donated to veterans, active duty military service members
A couple of local businesses teamed up on Thursday to provide Thanksgiving meals for those who have served the country. Price Chopper/Market 32 partnered with the Tully Rinckey law firm to donate more than 200 turkeys to active duty service members and veterans.
