Major UK airport issues warning that flights could be cancelled due to ice and snow
A busy airport has issued a warning to passengers as parts of the UK are blanketed in snow and ice.
The Met Office has issued several yellow weather warnings for snow, ice and rain in place across various parts of the country throughout the week.
The north west of England is covered by some of these warnings, and Manchester Airport has warned passengers to check the latest flight information before they try to travel today.
A spokesperson said: ‘There’s a possibility of snow overnight and some icy conditions, so if you’re due to fly from Manchester Airport, make sure you check your travel route to the airport, allow extra time for your journey and keep an eye out for updates from your airline.
‘In the meantime, our teams are working hard to prepare the airfield and clear any potential snow overnight to minimise disruption.’
Meanwhile, there are severe delays on three London Underground lines after planned engineering works ran over their scheduled end time.
