Jake Paul vs. Mike Tyson medical suspensions: Both fighters receive same mandatory minimum
While it wasn’t pretty, Jake Paul and Mike Tyson made history when they fought in an eight-round boxing match in front of an estimated crowd of more than 70,000 people at the Dallas Cowboys’ AT&T Stadium. That’s not to mention the reported 108 million live global viewers as well.
As a result of their match, which went the distance and saw Paul, 27, win a decisive unanimous decision against 58-year-old Tyson, both fighters were handed suspensions by the Texas Department of Licensing and Regulation (TDLR), which regulated the event.
Co-main event participants Katie Taylor and Amanda Serrano will also sit on the shelf as a result of their war that saw the former defeat the latter by controversial unanimous decision.
On Thursday, MMA Junkie acquired a list the suspensions from TDLR. According to the Texas Administrative Code, fighters are required to rest for at least three days per round fought. In the case of Tyson vs. Paul, they both received only the mandatory minimum.
