To kick off the CMA Awards, which were hosted in Nashville on Wednesday, celebrities walked the red carpet in their best gowns, suits, and Western attire.
While some stars like Kacey Musgraves shined in couture pieces, others like Keith Urban missed the mark. Here are the best and worst looks of the night.
Kacey Musgraves honored classic country style with a touch of Hollywood glam.

The "Deeper Well" musician walked the red carpet in a Georges Hobeika midi dress made from light-wash denim.
It had a sweetheart neckline, a structured waist that extended into its form-fitting skirt, and teardrop crystals attached from top to bottom.
And that's not to mention its long, feathered sleeves, which added a dramatic touch to the statement piece.
Kelsea Ballerini's gown had potential but ultimately missed the mark.

Dolce & Gabbana designed her sparkling number, which was sleeveless, shapeless, and covered entirely in silver sequins.
Though its metallic color suited Ballerini, too much fabric at the top of the dress created odd shapes and distracted from the overall look.
Shaboozey stunned in a mint-green suit and bedazzled Crocs.

His three-piece suit included trousers with rose prints down each leg, a beaded jacket with his name painted across the back, and a black, sparkling button-up with a short bolo tie on top.
The best part of his already showstopping look was his shoes: a black pair of Crocs covered in sparkles.
They helped make his fashion statement fun, unique, and perfect for the celebratory event.
Keith Urban kept his outfit too casual for a red-carpet event.

The country legend arrived wearing casual black pants, a matching T-shirt, and a fleece-lined jacket in the same dark hue.
His chunky boots were a bit more fun, with thick soles and structured tops, and Urban did wear a few pieces of silver jewelry.
Overall, the outfit lacked color and texture and was too casual for a glamorous awards ceremony.
Dasha was one of the best-dressed stars of the night in an iridescent gown.

The rising country star walked the carpet in a strapless gown with two cutouts across its bodice.
Its purple fabric — which sparkled in the light — was also ruched toward the waist, which added shape to the flowing garment.
Dasha completed the outfit with strappy sandals and diamond jewelry.
Simone Biles also wore a shimmering gown, but it lacked depth.

Her silver dress had a floor-length skirt, a tight bodice, and two asymmetrical straps. One sat across her shoulder while the other wrapped around her arm.
The metallic hue looked dazzling on Biles, and would have worked perfectly if the dress was shaped differently.
The Olympian also wore her hair in a bob, which aged the young athlete.
Lainey Wilson stayed true to her signature style, and it worked for her.

She wore a sharp blazer embellished with black sparkles and shoulder pads, as well as a satin top accessorized with a silver bolo tie.
Wilson added sheer, flowing pants, black heels, a tall cowboy hat, and diamond jewelry.
The outfit glistened and stood out on the red carpet but was also casual enough to match the musician's laid-back aesthetic.
Miranda Lambert could have had more fun with her simple outfit.

Lambert walked the red carpet in a black, off-the-shoulder gown with a floor-length skirt that pooled around her feet.
Though the silhouette was elegant and flattering on the country star — as were her turquoise accessories — the gown's solid black color left something to be desired.
