I’m A Celeb fans complain to ITV and claim GK Barry’s trial was ‘literally impossible’ saying ‘they were set up to fail’
FUMING I’m A Celebrity fans have slammed the latest brutal trial and labelled it ‘too difficult’ for GK Barry and Dean McCullough to complete.
Viewers have taken to social media to rant about the ‘impossible’ challenge faced by podcaster GK and tea-smuggling DJ Dean.
Speaking up for influencer and podcaster GK, one user commented: “She was screwed from the beginning after Dean spent the first half of the trial doing absolutely nothing.”
A second noted: “Could see her getting p***ed off with Dean but not wanting to snap at him.”
A third agreed: “It seemed waaaaay too difficult! They were set up to fail imho.”
“There was no way anyone could do that! It was extremely harsh,” wrote a fourth.
“The keys should have been numbered imo. Not surprised they got zero,” penned another.
“Impossible for her, she didn’t even try for over 6 mins,” remarked a vexed fan.
“It was really hard for her to hold her breath for the duration of testing multiple locks on each dive, but she shouldn’t have had to because Dean wasted the first half when her water was shallower and she wouldn’t have had to hold her breath at all,” ranted a user.
Another stuck up for them: “How was she meant to get to the bottom of that water in such a small space and hold her breath while trying to unlock a padlock? Kinda ridiculous.”
One viewer concluded: “And the tube was so narrow it looked very difficult to twist round to get to the keys without getting stuck upside down. The water was really cloudy too.”
The pair – who were voted to do it by the British public – joined forces to take on Drown in the Dumps.
When they arrived at the trial, hosts Ant and Dec explained that one of them would have to go into the tank at the bottom, while the other one in the top.
Dean, who was in the top one, had to try and find the holes to find the keys, which was then dropped down to GK in the bottom one.
After just two, he shouted: “I’m a celebrity get me out of here!”
After the pair failed to win any stars, it was especially difficult for Dean to break the news to camp – especially as he’d also fallen flat in the previous day’s task.
After returning to camp, GK got emotional while talking to dancer Oti Mabuse.
While crying she said: “It’s tough in here.”
Speaking on ITV2’s spin-off show, I’m A Celebrity Unpacked, Ant and his presenting partner Declan Donnelly were quizzed by hosts Joel Dommett, Sam Thompson, and Kemi Rodgers on Dean’s double defeat.
Dec said: “We are genuinely disappointed because you are prepared to do the whole trial and you want to see the whole thing.
“There’s a lot of time gone into the trials, so when it’s called early, you’re like, ‘Oh.'”
Ant explained: “Yeah, there are loads of people that have built the trial and come up with it, they just want to see it done properly.
“Even in the past when we’ve had people not go through with it, we’ve sometimes brought the trials back because we want them to be seen.”
He didn’t hold back on his frustration, saying: “I got quite annoyed at one point because it’s a bit like, ‘If you can’t do it, you can’t do it but just try it, try it.’
“If it’s physically impossible then fine, but at least try. There was a lot of not trying for quite a few minutes and then they ran out of time.”
