Pro tree decorator shares the exact order you should be decorating your Christmas tree & it speeds up the process too
A CHRISTMAS tree decor expert shared the exact order you should be hanging your ornaments.
According to the pro, her hacks will elevate your decor and help to speed up the process.
In her viral video, TikTok user Michelle Dulevich (@michelledulevich) talked her followers through each step of her formula.
She explained that she is constantly asked for the exact process she uses when transforming Christmas trees.
For her first step, Michelle revealed that she always goes in first with rotators “because they have a certain place.”
These are the attachments that you hang on your tree to spin your ornaments.
Next, she added the topper to the tree before “going in’ with the bows and ribbons.
Once she has filled out most of the branches, Michelle focuses on larger statement pieces, such as crystal ornaments.
She explained that this is the time to focus on ornaments you “want to be shown.”
After this step, she adds even more volume to the tree with some picks.
Next she addes any baubles she has to the tree because “they are just fillers.”
“I’ll do the colour coordinating baubles, put those in the tree, and then I go in with picks again,” she explained.
Michelle explained the additional steps she takes after decorating a tree.
She vacuumed up any fallen bristles and applied a skirt to the base of the tree.
Michelle added that she always opts for pre-lit Christmas trees to avoid the hassle of hanging lights.
The decorating pro regularly shares the trees she has worked on through her social media.
Her followers shared their thoughts on the handywork in the comments section.
How to look after your real Christmas tree
HERE'S what you need to know if you're buying a real Christmas tree:
First thing’s first: buy a pot (if it doesn’t come in one already).
You’ll need to treat your tree just like a houseplant and give it water and attention.
Make sure the container has good drainage – and it’s a good idea to put something underneath to catch the excess water.
Check the soil everyday to make sure it’s not drying out.
If it feels dry, give it some water. If it still feels moist, leave it alone as too much water can also kill a tree.
Also check the LED bulbs on your tree lights aren’t too hot as they could burn it, and keep your tree away from radiators.
When Christmas is over, try planting it in the garden so you can dig it up and use it again next year.
It’s a good idea to take it out of its pot when you do re-plant it though, as large trees don’t survive well in pots as their roots need space to grow.
“You are so amazing! Thank you so much for showing us your videos, and how you make these trees look fabulous,” wrote one viewer.
“I appreciate this so much! I feel like watching your videos is like prepping for a big game and watching B-roll. Working on my big tree today and thinking of you!” said another TikTok user.
“Thank you! I always wanted to know,” commented a third impressed person.
“I’ve stepped up my Christmas tree game so much from watching your videos!” wrote another follower.
“You have so elevated my tree game! I get compliments all the time and I owe that to your expertise mixed with my style,” said one viewer.
