Much-loved burger chain announces ‘immediate’ closure of all but ONE restaurant in UK after ‘stress takes its toll’
A FAVOURITE burger chain is set to close all its restaurants except just one after owners struggled with stress.
Hungry Cow, a family-run business in Wales, said they would be shutting with “immediate effect”.
Hungry Cow in Colwyn Bay and Flint will be closing[/caption]Christy Goode opened his first restaurant in 2021 in Holwell, Flintshire, after initially renting pub kitchens in Prestatyn.
His venture “blew up right from the start” and in 2023 he expanded and opened a branch in Colwyn Bay.
The eatery became well known for its luxury burgers, wings and loaded fries.
However, locals were gutted when they announced on Facebook that they would be closing.
“Unfortunately we have made the very difficult decision to close both of our Colwyn Bay restaurant & Flint express site with immediate effect.
“We are a small family-run business and the stress of managing multiple locations whilst trying to ensure we maintain the highest standards has taken its toll.
“Although we have enjoyed our times of expansion, we believe that the right decision for us as a business is to now take a step back, in order for us to move forward in the future.
“Our Mold Bar & Restaurant will remain open as normal, where we will be focussing on creating a unique & consistent dine-in, take away & delivery service with 100% of our efforts for our customers.
“Lastly, we would like to take this opportunity to thank all of our fantastic team at Hungry Cow & all of our customers for your continued support.
“We look forward to seeing you all in the Mold Bar & Restaurant in the near future,” they added.
The post collected rave-reviews and well-wishes from loyal customers, with one writing: “Ah I am so gutted! Will miss the BBQ Mac & Cheese!! We will have to make the special trip to Mold soon just to have some!!
“Absolutely gutted about this guys. You know how much we love your food. Thank you for always providing the best quality food and service to us. We will have to venture into Mold more now,” said another.
A third wrote: “My husband and I have recently moved to Mold from Shropshire, everytime we had to come here before we moved in, we visited Hungry Cow – your burgers are the best – and I’m quite choosy about meat with being a farmers daughter and ex butcher girl.
“This must’ve been a very hard decision to make but it’s the right one, although today not everyone may agree.
“We will most certainly be regulars at Mold the lovely scouse lady who serves us even knows what we’ll order now.”
There is a Hungry Cow in London, but it is not connected to Mr Goode.
