'At least one fatality' after head-on crash in Geary County: KHP
GEARY COUNTY (KSNT) - State law enforcement confirm one person is dead after a head on collision Tuesday evening.
Just before 5 p.m. Tuesday, Nov. 19, the Junction City Police Department notified the Kansas Highway Patrol (KHP) about a head-on collision at milepost 154 on Northbound U.S. 77. Troopers arrived on scene to find three vehicles involved in the crash, one driver was in each car, according to KHP.
According to KHP crash logs, A Subaru Outback was driving northbound on U.S. 77, when it crossed over the center line and hit an Infiniti G37. This collision led to the Infiniti going into the west ditch and coming to a stop after hitting the guardrail. The Subaru continued north, crossing the center line again and hitting a Ford Fusion. After the second collision, the Ford came to a rest in the west ditch, while the Subaru came to a final stop in the northbound lane.
The driver of the Subaru was taken to a Topeka hospital with suspected serious, The driver of the Infiniti has no apparent injuries, and The driver of the Ford, 56-year-old Bradley Linton was pronounced dead, according to the crash logs.
A medical helicopter was on the scene to transport an individual. The highway was temporarily closed for more than two hours to investigate the crash. KSNT 27 News will provide more information as it becomes available.
