Jamie O’Hara says ‘frustrating’ Spurs player needs to make things happen more
Jamie O’Hara is still not convinced about one Tottenham man’s effectiveness despite his impressive numbers in the final third.
A topsy-turvy season so far for Spurs man
We are just a few months into the new season but Brennan Johnson has already had a rollercoaster ride.
The winger struggled in the first few games of the season and came off Instagram temporarily due to the vitriol he was subject to on social media.
He responded in perfect fashion, going on an impressive goalscoring streak which silenced his critics, but over the last few weeks, the 23-year-old has once again gone quiet, and his critics are starting to come out of the woodwork again.
Jamie O’Hara says Brennan Johnson needs to do more
Johnson is currently Tottenham’s top scorer this season with seven goals across all competitions, but O’Hara insisted that the winger needs to offer more on the ball than he does.
The pundit told talkSPORT: “He is frustrating, Brennan Johnson, isn’t he? I watch him for Spurs all the time.
“Quick, he has got a flurry of goals for Spurs, but it’s still moments in them games where I am like, ah, give me more, you know, like make something happen.
“When he gets the ball, he stands behind players, but fair play to him, his goals record for Spurs has been unbelievable this season, but I still feel like there’s more you need to get out of him.”
Johnson has a weird profile
Johnson undoubtedly has some elite qualities such as his engine, his work off the ball and his ability to arrive late in the box and finish off chances.
However, we have now seen enough evidence to know that he is not capable of taking on players and beating them consistently.
It feels like the former Nottingham Forest man would be a better fit for a counter-attacking side than a possession-based side like Tottenham as he struggles to put his imprint on the game when he comes up against teams who defend in a low block.
