Strictly hit by new fix row as fans claim star is ‘undermarked by judges every week’
STRICTLY has been hit by a fresh fix row after fans claimed Montell Douglas has been “undermarked” every week.
Gladiators star Montell and pro dancer Johannes Radebe were in the bottom two with Wynne Evans and Katya Jones on Sunday,
Fans have claimed that Montell Douglas has been unfairly ‘undermarked’[/caption] The Gladiators star found herself in the bottom two on Sunday[/caption]Montell was performing her salsa to Don’t Leave Me This Way by Thelma Houston, while Wynne did a Charleston to Carmen Suite No. 1: 5. Les Toreadors by George Bizet.
After they’d danced, judges Craig Revel Horwood, Motsi Mabuse, Anton Du Beke and Head Judge Shirley Ballas had their say and cast their vote.
Craig, Motsi and Anton all chose to save Montell, with Head Judge Shirley in agreement.
This meant that Wynne is the eighth celebrity to be leaving the show.
But some fans were gobsmacked that Montell found herself in the bottom two – despite there being “weaker” dancers.
One wrote: “Gladiators & athletics fans please vote tonight for Montell aka Fire in Strictly Come Dancing. She has been grossly undermarked every week. She is a complete novice non-dancer that has been great from day one.”
A second asked: “Explanation to why Montell keeps ending up in the dance off?”
A third said: “Montell and Johannes should never have been in the dance off in the first place!”
“There are weaker dancers in the competition, Montell should not have been in the dance off,” a fourth commented.
Unfortunately Wynne’s time on the show was up.
It came as some fans noticed that Wynne had “made mistakes” during his Charleston routine in Blackpool‘s Tower Ballroom.
After his fate was secured, host Tess Daly asked him about his time on Strictly, to which he replied: “It’s been wonderful, I’ve got to say. I feel like it’s what Strictly is all about.
“If I can come and do Strictly and last until week nine, then anybody can get out there and dance and have a brilliant time.
“Strictly is such a brilliant family, such a precious family, that I want everybody here in this room and at home to look after it for the generations to come because it is a wonderful, wonderful thing.”
Katya said: “To be honest with you, the smile hasn’t left my face since the first day of our training, since the day we got partnered up.
“You [to Wynne] have made this experience so joyous and so full of laughter for me. I’m sure everybody was jealous because you’re the kind of guy that everybody wants in their life.”
“You bring light, you bring laughter, you bring charisma, you fill up every room you walk into with those qualities.”
Wynne added: “To have been partnered with Katya has been amazing and coming every Saturday night to hang out with these guys [to fellow contestants in the Clauditorium], that’s been wonderful.
“But to spend every weekday dancing has been just fantastic. I’ve grown so much and I’m so thankful to have met this person [to Katya].”
Wynne and Katya’s time on the show hasn’t been without its controversy.
In a viral moment, Katya was spotted rolling her eyes at the GoCompare singer after snubbing him over a high-five – before having to bat away his wandering hands in front of the cameras.
After instant backlash online, Wynne and Katya uploaded an apology video claiming it was an “inside joke gone wrong”.
They then took to It Takes Two and “cleared up any confusion” over the hand-gate saga.
Katya confessed: “I actually can’t bear sitting here watching this man being portrayed as someone he’s not.”
Heartbroken Wynne added: “I can see how people may have misinterpreted it.”
