The #LUFC Breakfast Debate (Tuesday 19th November) Solomon's defensive qualities may give Farke food for thought
Good Morning. It's Tuesday 19th November, and here are the latest headlines from Elland Road...
Solomon's defensive qualities may give Farke food for thought
Manor Solomon rediscovered his form during the International break, with Israel picking up credible results against France (0-0) and beating Belgium 1-0. After a promising start to his loan period, the 25yo picked up a knock (hamstring), side-lining him for four games. Since returning to action, lack of form (and confidence) has restricted his game time for the Whites, prompting speculation that his temporary stay could come to an end earlier than expected.
What makes his performance against last year's Euro finalists stand out even more, is that he played out of position as left-wing back, winning 11 duels and providing two key passes. With Junior Firpo suspended for the next two games, Daniel Farke may well opt for Solomon over Byram on Sunday when the Whites travel to Swansea City!
Would 89 points be enough
Leeds are on target to hit 89 points this season, a point less than what they achieved last season; but with nobody particularly dominating, will it be enough?
Daniel Farke's side have picked up 29 points from their first 15 matches, giving them an average of 1.93 points per game, and are actually a point better off than they were at this stage last season. Their New Year run of fourteen games undefeated gave the Whites a realistic chance of spoiling the Leicester/Ipswich party, only to fall away towards the end when fatigue set in!
As a club, Leeds don't always learn by their mistakes, and lack of rotation and substitutions this season are still a cause of concern for the Elland Road faithful. They failed to do enough in January to freshen things up, and paid the ultimate price. Is 89 points enough? It was in 18/19, 19/20 and 21/22!
