Warriors vs. Clippers injury report
The latest injuries as Golden State heads to Los Angeles.
We’re nearly a month into the 2024-25 NBA season, and the Golden State Warriors have only lost two basketball games. And tonight they get the chance avenge one of those losses, as they head south to check out the new LA Clippers’ arena in a game available on local TV as well as on NBA TV.
Whoever wins will know that they faced a compromised opponent ... while also not being able to put their own best team forward. That’s because a handful of notable names will be out of action for the 7:30 p.m. PT game.
Here’s the full injury report.
Warriors
Out — De’Anthony Melton (left ACL sprain)
It’s the second consecutive game that Melton has missed since being diagnosed with an ACL sprain. He hopefully won’t be out too much longer, and then can return to his spot in the starting lineup.
Out — Kevon Looney (illness)
The Dubs’ frontcourt depth takes a big hit with Looney falling sick. Unless they choose to activate two-way rookie Quinten Post for his NBA debut, they have no center depth behind starter Trayce Jackson-Davis. That likely means a lot of small-ball, with Draymond Green, Jonathan Kuminga, and Kyle Anderson being called on to play bigger than their bodies.
Questionable — Steph Curry (left knee bursitis)
I probably don’t need to tell you how important Curry is to the team. If I do have to tell you, then welcome to Warriors basketball! You must be new here, but we hope you are here for a long time and enjoy your stay. And hopefully Curry can play tonight.
Questionable — Lindy Waters III (left knee hyperextension)
Melton’s injury opened up some playing time for Waters, who got the start during Friday’s win over the Memphis Grizzlies. Unfortunately, he suffered a knee injury in the second quarter, and it might cost him some time.
Clippers
Out — Kawhi Leonard (right knee injury recovery)
As he was when they played during the first week of the season, Leonard is out for this game as he rehabs a knee injury that has been lingering for many seasons. Leonard has yet to play in a game this year, and it’s unclear when that will change.
Out — P.J. Tucker (not with team)
The Tucker saga continues, as the veteran has not been a part of the Clippers season while the two sides work together towards a trade.
Questionable — Mo Bamba (left knee injury recovery)
Bamba missed LA’s first 13 games of the season, but he made his debut for his new team yesterday. Not surprisingly, he hasn’t yet been cleared to play both sides of the back-to-back.
Enjoy the action, Dub Nation!
