Man confesses to rape in Tecumseh; could be more victims
TECUMSEH, Okla. (KFOR) – Tecumseh Police arrested a man for first-degree rape after officers said he confessed to sexually assaulting a 15-year-old girl.
Christopher Folks was arrested November 14.
The victim said she was raped at least twice during a span of two days by Folks. She had been helping the Folk’s family with housework when the 32-year-old reportedly assaulted her in his bedroom.
An affidavit said that Folks “strangled her four different times” during the two incidents.
The teenager was initially afraid to come forward. Court documents also stated that she was told by Folks to “keep it secret” so he would not go to jail.
"She did reach out to Detective Snow and make an official police report and was actually interviewed," said JR Kidney, Tecumseh Police Chief.
The girl was taken to the hospital to be medically evaluated. Police brought Folks to the station to be interviewed.
"During that interview, he did admit to the allegations,” said Kidney.
Kidney said Folks also confessed to a case from 2012. He was arrested by Tecumseh Police more than a decade ago for sexually assaulting a 10-year-old child. Kidney said the case had been in limbo since then.
"I can tell you that everybody is looking at it now,” said Kidney. “I hate that it's taken this long to happen and that we have another victim."
Investigators said they were not working to rule out whether or not there were more victims.
"Reading some of the posts we've seen on social media since his arrest, we are asking that if anybody wants to come forward or had similar situations by the same suspect, please reach out to Detective Snow here or come to the police department," said Kidney.
