WATCH: Lainey Wilson invites St. Jude patient on stage at hometown concert
MONROE, La. (KARD/KTVE)--It's been a highly anticipated weekend for locals in Northeast Louisiana as country music star Lainey Wilson returns to her hometown for a two-night concert as part of her Country’s Cool Again Tour. One super-fan received the opportunity of a lifetime at Lainey's concert at the Monroe Civic Center in Louisiana on Friday night. Her name is Finley and she is nine years old.
Finley's mother, Paula Kay Griggs, surprised her daughter with VIP tickets to Lainey's concert, hoping for a chance to meet her. She says she's been obsessed with the country music superstar ever since Finely was diagnosed with acute lymphoblastic leukemia a little over a year ago. She has about a year left of treatment with St. Jude.
Last night's encounter was magical but it wasn't their first. Lainey had seen a video of Finley singing her hit song Wild Flowers and Wild Horses on social media a while back. Lainey sent a video response back to Finley.
It was an amazing experience. It felt like a dream! Over a year ago Lainey Wilson had sent me a video and when I saw her I didn't believe she recognized me because my hair is starting to grow back from chemo and when she randomly picked me, wow! I was so thankful. I never thought I would ever be chosen for anything like it.

Wilson randomly picked Finley out of the crowd not realizing their previous encounter, invited her on stage, had her repeat positive affirmations, and crowned her "Cowgirl of the Night."
Wilson is originally from Baskin, Louisiana, about 28 miles south of Monroe. She'll perform again tonight Saturday at the Monroe Civic Center.
