JLS star Ortisé Williams and wife Kazz reveal heartbreaking reason they kept son’s birth a secret
JLS Star Ortisé Williams and his wife Kazz have become proud parents to a baby boy, but have opened up on why they kept the pregnancy and birth a secret.
Ortisé, who shot to fame as part of X Factor group JLS, has been married to wife Kazz since 2022.
The couple revealed they had suffered heartbreaking miscarriages, which led to anxiety and worries around their pregnancy with son Shiva.
As a result, they chose to keep the pregnancy out of the spotlight and only revealed the news once Shiva had safely arrived in October.
Their son Shiva Zion Olumidé Williams arrived at 6.47am on October 3, weighing 7lb 8oz with the pair delighted with their new arrival.
Ortisé, who already has a 10-year-old son from a previous relationship has described being a dad again as being “on cloud nine”.
Speaking to OK! magazine, Kazz explained why the pair had been hesitant to share their news.
She said: “When we found out we were pregnant this time, I was happy and scared at the same time.
“I was crippled with anxiety to the point I had to use crutches to move. But Oritsé was amazing – he supported me so much.”
Due to two previous miscarriages and loss, Kazz also explained that they attended private weekly scans to try and calm her fears which only really went away at the 20-week mark.
She was then later diagnosed with gestational diabetes and had to amend her diet throughout the remainder of her pregnancy.
Ortisé added: “We are grateful for the support and love we have received. We had no idea that many of our friends went through it, too.”
Proud dad Ortisé has also revealed big plans for his son, as he hopes to show him the world of music with JLS tours.
He explained: ““How could he not? I want him attached to me everywhere.
“I want him to know his daddy as someone who is always there – not just when it comes to nappy changing!”
The couple also waited to share the news of their son Shiva, only revealing the pregnancy in October.
Announcing the pregnancy on social media, Ortisé wrote in emotional post: “Overwhelmed with emotion, love, and awe, words can’t express how I feel about my Queen, my soulmate, my hero, and stunning Mama Kazz.
“Her strength, her sacrifices, and everything she’s overcome to bring us to this point leave me in absolute wonder.”
He continued: “This journey has tested us in ways I can’t describe, but her courage has shown me the true depths of love and resilience. We’re embracing this sacred time together in our little family bubble.
“Our hearts are overflowing with gratitude for everyone who has stood by us and continues to surround us with true love and support. Your kindness carries us, and we are forever thankful to you.”
