Texas defense swarming Razorbacks, Longhorns lead 10-0 at halftime
AUSTIN (KXAN) — Texas is showing why it's one of the best defensive teams in the country against Arkansas on Saturday.
The No. 3 Longhorns held the Razorbacks to 74 total yards in the first half, and the offense has done enough to take a 10-0 halftime lead. Arkansas averaged 2.8 yards per play in just 26 plays, gaining 16 yards on the ground. Texas ran 42 plays and averaged 3.8 yards per play.
Texas sacked Razorbacks quarterback Taylen Green four times with Jahdae Barron getting to him on the last play of the first half. Barron had four tackles, two for loss, with an interception in the first half. Texas entered the game with the No. 2 total defense in FBS, allowing 251 yards per game.
Matthew Golden caught a 20-yard pass for the game's first score for Texas with 7:23 left in the opening quarter and Bert Auburn knocked a 39-yard kick through the uprights in the second quarter. Quinn Ewers was 15-for-23 with 100 yards and a touchdown while Jaydon Blue has 32 rushing yards on seven carries. Silas Bolden has three catches for 33 yards.
For Arkansas, Green is 7 of 11 for 58 yards with an interception and Rashod Dubinion has 18 rushing yards on three carries.
