New park opens for both public and private residents in Long Island City
LONG ISLAND CITY, Queens (PIX11) – Catch waterfront views at the city’s newest public park in Long Island City, Queens.
Malt Drive Park is located near a new residential development of the same name and offers space for both residents of the living complex and the surrounding community.
The park sits at a former beer distribution center from where it also gets its namesake. The portion of the park open to the public extends towards the Queens shoreline from the existing Hunter’s Point South Park.
The space includes social seating, play structures, a dog run, and an open lawn to take in the view. Developers also raised the park to a higher elevation to mitigate flood risks from future storms.
Lotteries are also now open for affordable housing units in the nearby apartment complex known as 2-20 Malt Drive.
